Written On Her Heart: Girl Time In Menswear

Being a mother is wonderful. There is just no doubt about it, it's unlike anything else in the world and I am thankful for every moment I have with 5ohBaby.

But sometimes, after huge all day events especially, some of us need a little ~~day drinking~~ adult time. And boy has it been a loooong time since I've had pomegranate cider.

I know I'm not the only mama that feels that way.

I know this because I went out for lunch with a girlfriend of mine who is also a police wife and stay at home mom. She has two awesome little boys and is a part of the first responder spouse group, too. She's marvelous. And totally adorable. And I really enjoyed getting to know her.

Since it was our first mom date, I felt like I needed to get all dolled up for the occasion. Then I ~~laid in bed reading and playing with 5ohBaby~~ lost track of time so I had to rush (but it was totally worth it.)

So, what's a rushed mama to wear? Well, I started with my favorite shorts with the super cute although totally pointless buckle embellishment.

These shorts are basically a staple since they are one of the three things that fit my widened baby mama hips. To add to them, I just grabbed one of 5ohHubby's shirts, tied it at the middle, threw my hair up in a messy bun and was out the door.

It doesn't quite feel like fall here yet but I love the look of boots with shorts. Always have. Always will. I'm still a southern girl at heart.

You know I had to rock those thrifted boots again even if I still haven't figured out how to wear that belt. Yet.

And as a very extra special treat, since 5ohHubby was going to spend the afternoon playing with 5ohBaby, I got to leave the house sans diaper bag. I honestly haven't worn a purse in 5 entire months. To be honest, this Dooney & Burke was not a bad one to start with.
