Finally Moved In

When I first started this blog, I had no idea what I was doing, design wise. I had no idea what the blog world was like AT ALL and I never would have imagined spending any money on a blog design. I got a free super busy and ridiculous scrapbook template and just went with it. After 5ohBaby was born when I decided to really start blogging I learned a little bit of HTML coding and made my own blog design.
Y'all, I wish you could understand how excited I was about this design. I used our real wedding rings and cropped 5ohBaby's name out of her pacifier and I thought I was a design genius.

Oh, Lordy.

I finally gave in and got a real blog design from Nicole. I can not tell you how excited I was about it. Or maybe I can... and did.

I had the original design until we did 5ohBaby's one year pics and then I had her replace the pics in both the header and in the about me picture. She graciously agreed and so it's been for the last few months.

But the other day, I got the itch.

Hayley from The Tiny Twig wrote a great post as part of her no brainer blog series about what kind of impression your design and layout gives to those stopping by your little corner of the internet. Then, she did one of my most favorite things, and opened up her comments section so that people could give and get constructive criticism and first impression on each others designs.I found it amazingly helpful and would like to thank all you who emailed and messaged me with your tips (seriously head on over if you want some tips!).

So, I made some changes around here. I have one font running throughout my entire design. All the header pictures are the same height. The colors are over all a little warmer. My header now matches my signature (below) and will match my business cards. I changed the tabs up a little. I kept all the social media icons Nicole designed because they are seriously amazing hello tiny badges for a cop's wife... eek! and I just followed her coding- replacing the old with the new.

And I've got to see it, I feel like I've finally moved in here. I feel home.

  1. I hate to bother you, but for some reason I was unable to comment on the blog series to get some input on my blog design. You obviously have a great eye, so I was wondering if maybe you could take a look and critique my blog. I love your blog btw, it looks beyond fabulous!

  4. I'm glad you shared that link! I actually changed things up on my blog a lot today, feeling the need to make things cleaner and less cluttered. So I commented over there to get some opinions, which is honestly a little intimidating! I love how different everyone's blogs are and I want mine to reflect me while also being easy to look at and navigate. Thanks for sharing :)
