2012 Year In Review

As we are looking toward the end of 2012 and the beginning of a new year, I thought it would be fun to do a sort of year in review.

Our year started off pretty slow as we had just returned home from a long east coast vacay and were planning a move in March. January we found out that a lot and a lot and a lot of prayers regarding my nephew had been granted. God was crazy faithful (and still is) and it basically took the cake. In February, my mother-in-law became an 11 year cancer survivor after having been given a 1% chance of survival. What a testimony her life is, eh? In other less-awesome-but-exciting-to-me news, I hosted the very first The Girl Behind The Blog!
March was a crazy busy month. I stopped nursing which was super hard on me and super easy for 5ohBig. I also attended a really terrible blog event with some really amazing women. The experience was meh but the friendships I've made have been so dear to me. On St Patrick's Day we moved into our first (rented) house. Not an apartment, not a townhouse, not a dorm in China, not a room in our parents house. A real, honest to goodness house with a backyard and everything. The next week, 5ohBig turned one. I can't even believe it, still. We threw a sugar and spice birthday party and took some vintage throwback pics. It was awesome.

In April, my sister who is seriously my best friend moved back to the east coast. I was so happy for her and so sad for me all at the same time. Also, two of our best friend's in the whole wide world had their sweet little baby girl (who we still have yet to meet... shame on us). In May, 5ohBig had Periorbital Cellulitis and we all spent three days in the hospital. One of these day's was Mother's Day and I tell you what, I've never felt more like a mom than during that time. 

In June, I got to read an advanced copy of my friend Jenna's book White Jacket Required.. still so crazy one of my bffs is a published author. In July, 5ohHubby and I went on our first real grown up vacation and we've spent the rest of the year dreaming of going back. We got a visit from my sister AND my mother in law this month. We had a week of down time and then my mom came out to visit the first week of August. In August we also announced that we were preggo with 5ohLittle! Aaaaaand that's about the time I went into the first trimester black hole of "morning" sickness.

Honestly, I mostly spent September on the couch and puking in the bathroom  and I couldn't really tell you anything more than that. I know 5ohHubby's brother came to visit and him and 5ohHubby had a blast (and I had some much needed rest). October brought with it The Influence Conference which was AH-MA-ZING. 

November was another HUGE and super fun month. 5ohBig and I flew out (on our own!) to the east coast where 5ohHubby eventually met us. We spent an awesome week with my family doing TONS of fun activities ( as my family is known to do)  and had our first thanksgiving home as a couple... ever? We then got  a smattering of family members from both our families together for an ultrasound and found out that our sweet 5ohLittle is another precious girl! We then traveled to 5ohHubby's family's house and spent another incredible week with them- including celebrating his birthday. We were sad sad sad to leave, that's for sure.

December was super low key and wonderful. I chopped off all my hair against most every one's advice (and totally love it). For my birthday, 5ohHubby totally rocked my world with an awesome day at Alcatraz, a delicious night at the Melting Pot, and a totally gorgeous amethyst ring. Christmas was simple and quiet and wonderful.

We've got big plans and big changes happening in 2013- both in our home and on this blog. I am so looking forward to sharing them all with you... and most of all meeting 5ohLittle! Happy New Years, friends!
